By accessing or utilizing Soft Focus, you acknowledge the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any practice described herein, your choice is to discontinue use of the service or use it purely in offline Guest Mode.

2. Information We Collect

We believe in extreme data minimization. Depending on whether you use Soft Focus as a guest or with a registered account, we collect the following categories of data:

• Guest Mode Data (Unauthenticated): If you use Soft Focus without logging in, your focus session durations, completed minutes, current streaks, unlocked milestones, and world level progressions are stored exclusively on your device within your browser’s local storage (localStorage). This data never reaches our external servers unless you explicitly sign up or link an account.
• Account Information (Authenticated Users): When you create an account using Google OAuth or email sign-up via Google Firebase Authentication, we collect your name, email address, profile avatar URL (if provided by your provider), and unique account identifier (UID).
• Focus Statistics & Milestones: For registered users, we sync your total completed focus minutes per world, daily session timestamps, milestone unlock records, and custom playlist preferences to our secure Google Firestore database so your progress persists across devices.
• Voluntary Support & Contribution Data: If you choose to tip or support Soft Focus via our integrated Razorpay payment gateway, your payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay (PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant). Soft Focus does not view, collect, or store your credit card numbers, debit card details, UPI PINs, or bank account credentials. We receive only transaction confirmation metadata (e.g., payment ID, amount, and timestamp).
• Technical & Telemetry Data: Standard server requests may log basic anonymous telemetry, such as browser user-agent and device screen dimensions, solely to correctly deliver responsive glassmorphism styles and Ken Burns background slideshow scaling.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively for the following operational purposes:

• To provide, operate, and maintain the interactive timer, soundscapes, and 3D ambient motion cards.
• To synchronize your personal statistics, daily streaks, world leveling, and achievement badges across multiple devices.
• To verify authentication status and manage secure access to your profile space.
• To allow custom track addition, playlist reordering, and individual volume retention.
• To diagnose technical errors, optimize client-side rendering performance, and enhance application stability.
• To communicate important service updates or respond directly to inquiries submitted through our contact channels.

4. Third-Party Integrations & Service Providers

To provide a seamless multimedia experience without maintaining heavy proprietary streaming infrastructure, we partner with reputable, privacy-conscious service providers:

• Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore): Manages secure user login and encrypted cloud database storage. Google’s data practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
• YouTube Embedded Player API: Ambient lofi and instrumental soundscapes are streamed via official YouTube IFrame embeds. When you play a track, YouTube may receive standard playback requests governed by Google’s and YouTube’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.
• Razorpay: Facilitates voluntary support contributions. Razorpay maintains bank-grade encryption and complies with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and PCI-DSS compliance frameworks.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

Soft Focus does not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies. We utilize browser local storage (localStorage) strictly for essential functionality:

• Storing your theme preference (data-mode: "dark" | "light").
• Preserving guest focus minutes, streaks, and milestone achievements on your local machine.
• Retaining your active timer preset and audio volume levels between browser reloads.

You can clear your browser’s local storage at any time through your browser settings, though doing so in Guest Mode will reset your local timer stats and unlocked milestones.

6. Data Retention & Your Rights

Regardless of your jurisdiction (including GDPR in Europe and CCPA/CPRA in California), we grant universal control over your data:

• Right of Access & Portability: You can review your complete focus history and stats directly within your Profile dashboard at any time.
• Right to Erasure (Account Deletion): You may request complete, permanent deletion of your account and all associated Firestore records by contacting us at privacy@softfocus.app. Upon receiving your verified request, all personal records are purged within 30 days.
• Guest Data Reset: Guest data can be immediately removed simply by clearing site data for Soft Focus in your browser settings.

7. Children’s Privacy

Soft Focus is designed for general audiences seeking mindfulness and concentration. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please reach out to us and we will promptly delete the information.

8. Updates to this Policy & Contact Information

We may periodically refine this Privacy Policy to reflect enhancements in our worlds, features, or regulatory standards. Any adjustments will be indicated by an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this document.
